Aiwa's mp3 recorder headphones
aragoto on 2004/04/16:
„We somehow managed to miss this one amid the recent news of Aiwa's woes (product cancellations, delays, etc.): an actual new product that's in the shops. The UZ-PS128 's interesting twist is that it can be connected to an external audio source for use as a conventional pair of headphones that will also record whatever you're listening to in mp3 format at the same time. AV Watch rates the sound quality as decent, though the feel is a touch on the tight side; the high-sounding 100g weight is apparently not a problem in practice.“

Review: Spirals In Hyperspace (Ozric Tentacles, 2004)
Ministry on 2004/04/04:
„The frenetic percussion is very much in a drum'n'bass style, which doesn't entirely match the slower pace of Ed's guitar 'solo', though the result is surprisingly successful. Definitely one for headphones listening: a high-energy, 3D audio trip.“

Apple Headphone Alternatives
Ted Stevko on 2004/03/09:
„If you're looking for good headphone advice, definitely check out Headroom , which has more cool information on headphones and more sweet audio toys than any site I can think of; and it's much better than the crappy headphones Apple has.“

Online music dilemmas.
John on 2003/11/22:
„Yes, all the formats are what are called "lossy formats," meaning you trade off sound quality for a smaller file. However, the high-encoded bitrates for these songs are better than good enough for the average music lover who listens to CDs in their midrange car audio system or on their computer speakers or Panasonic headphones. They can't tell the difference. (Yes, Ogg Vorbis is "lossless," supposedly, but none of the stores currently support it.) As much as audiophiles really can hear the difference, the average listener cannot, and that's the majority of music lovers.“

Crazy ear slicing fool...
KT on 2003/11/15:
„But the Van Gogh museum was wonderful. I convinced Rebecca we need the audio feature so we rented the headphones and EMP like palm pilot thing. Of course I think another reason I loved the museum is because our spacecake hit right when we got there and all I wanted was to focus on the art and shut out everyone around me. The audio portion was amazing for this.“

Can You Hear Me Now?
Ryan on 2003/11/13:
„To combat the audio ejaculations springing forth from my nose-blowing, carrot-crunching officemate, I finally surrendered and brought in a collection of CDs and a set of headphones to hopefully drown her out, or at least muffle her.“

Finally, a Useful Bluetooth Device
yme_bosma on 2003/11/01:
„Once paired (either receiver or transmitter can be aware of more than one mate), a device will associate with the closest mate - regardless of how many it sees—when you press its connect button. That would let you roam around the house with wireless headphones, and connect to different audio sources depending on which one was closest....“

Mandrake 9.1 Linux on a Toshiba P25 notebook
Dave on 2003/08/19:
„I bought this notebook to do a little hard disk recording. Obviosly, the onboard sound card would not really cut it for A/D on the inbound side - but the p25 should do a really nice job of running ardour, jackd and some pluggins , and I should be able to monitor the downsampled audio with headphones at the very least.“

Second Guessing
mbowen on 2003/08/17:
„Naturally, I did receptions and church functions and otherwise upscale stuff appropriate for my sub $1000 setup. (Setton components, stacked Advents, Dual 880 Belt Drives, Sony TC-K5, Audio Technica mike, ADC cartridges, Sennheiser headphones.) I would have loved to have had the big JBL L212s and the Soundcraftsmen amps and a nice parametric equalizer and the Kenwood turntables with the marble base, but unlike some of my LA contemporaries, I didn't have quite enough nerve to sell cocaine to get me into the big equipment. Be that as it may, being a DJ is always a risky enterprise. Why, because you have to work the crowd.“

Eurotrip Tech Specs
sic on 2003/06/07:
„I hope they expand this new wireless FM technology used for wireless use of iPod music in car stereos, into the realm of headphone design. This way, you could turn your iPod or MP3 player into broadcast mode, pick an FM frequency, and if the headphones were built correctly, all headphones within a short radius would receive the same audio signal. It might also be possible to tag on some kind of code header to any signal, so that receiving headphones could see what kind of songs were available around the area. I guess this might be possible using 802.11 Wifi technology, much like voice-over-Wifi.“

Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen
ara on 2002/11/25:
„Dynamic equalization can also dampen loud parts of an audio track so that sudden sounds such as cannon shots in a piece of classical music won't be overwhelming. A version of the EAX technology used in Creative's sound cards is also included in the player, allowing you to modify the sound with effects and preset equalizer templates such as "jazz," "rock" and "pop." You can "spatialize" the sound for a surround-sound effect from headphones, and time-scaling lets you speed up or slow down recordings (handy if you're listening to a long audio book or lecture).“
